Vietnam
The impact and the presence from “the American War” is everywhere. From war era propaganda posters to the wreckage of a B-52, where select parts serve as cafe art near where the bomber crashed and servicemen were either killed or captured.
While being too young to have served, during my visit, my mind was permeated with stories from U.S. soldiers who I knew and who did serve in Vietnam. Yet, the warmth I felt from the Vietnamese people struck me so deeply. I will always remember singing John Maher songs with my driver as we compared notes of our favorite music, and the generosity of the people I met during my multiple visits.
