When I was a child, I religiously watched a cartoon called Jonny Quest. Jonny, his friend Haji, and their dog Bandit, would travel the world with Jonny’s scientist father, Benton Quest, and their secret agent/body guard, Race Bannon. One episode featured the terrifying Komodo Dragons which made a lasting impression. Some forty years later, I was hiking the hills of Komodo and Rinca Islands in search of dragons! Seeing the dragons in the Denver Zoo was interesting, but kneeling only a few feet away watching a dragon flip his tongue at me was something completely different.
